Figuring Out Buyer Behavior Part 2
The first student I spoke to was a sustainability major from Orlando, in his second year of college. This student seemed to really like my idea and said it would help advance the economy into the future and it would help us cleanup our carbon footprint. He said that this radical investment into the green economy would help bolster a worldwide movement of clean energy. The student claimed that the price of the good would be most impactful over anything else. He said for a purchase this expensive, most households would have to finance their payments. What will help these consumers is when after they purchase the good, they will see their energy bills decrease substantially.
The second student I spoke to was an environmental sciences major from Texas who said that she loved the idea. The student also claimed that the price of the product would be most important to the willingness of the consumer to buy the product, since renewable energy sources can be very expensive. She also said that most families would need to finance their payments but would eventually pay it off and make money from their investment in renewable energy resources.
The last student I spoke to was an environmental sciences major from Miami who is a senior and is attempting to go to graduate school in the future. The student claimed that the design would be the worst part of the idea because no one would want to have an ugly solar panel or huge wind turbine in their yards. This student also made the same remarks as the other students claiming that everyone would need to finance such a large investment.
In these interviews I realized that most people were concerned with the appearance and price of implementing green energy resources in people's homes. Also, most students acknowledged that people would make money from this investment.
This segment clearly supports the idea that was presented and would purchase the product and support others doing the same.

ReplyDeleteYour idea seems to be appreciated by a lot of students especially because its sustainable and will play a major role in improving the worlds atmospheres. Your interviewees all come from an environmental science background, which means they have a lot of information regarding your project making their comments reliable and credible. While renewable energy will be an expensive investment in the short run just like any other investment, its long term benefits will definitely yield greater profits and cut down costs. Not only that but it will promote a more eco friendly environment.

With all the interviewees relating to science in their own ways, these interviews were particularly relevant. With interviewees majoring in sustainability and the other two majoring in environmental science, these interviews will maximize your opportunity to retain updated and relevant information.
