Final Reflection

1) The lowest point I have had in this class was when I didn't submit my first elevator pitch. This was the lowest point because the night before the assignment was due I went out to middle town until very late and forgot to submit the assignment the morning after. Overall, this class taught me how to manage my time better. 2) What stuck out to me the most was completing the assignments in the library and how much I miss doing that. Now with Covid-19 I do all my work by myself at home. I miss being able to go to the library and sit with my friends and work at my own pace. Those were by far the most memorable times I have had completing these assignments. 3) I see myself as an entrepreneur because I have learned the important skills that are required by me to succeed in the business world. 4) I would recommend that future students who take this class focus on time management very carefully.

Venture Concept 2

Image
1) This venture I have selected contains great opportunities for success. There are millions of Americans who want access to clean energy sources and want to support them in order to have a more green environment. By lobbying to government officials asking for incentives for green technology this would not only make people's energy prices go down but it would also save the planet. This could solve some of the major pains that are currently associated with the global warming in the world. Our expectations are to start with a small group that purchases a large plot of land in the suburbs of a large major city and build solar panels. These solar panels should especially be extremely popular in Florida where there is usually a lot of sunlight. Selling these solar panel energy resources to different households could generate substantial income for our company while giving people the option to invest in clean energy at an affordable price. This will help clean up our ecosystems, which ar...

Your Exit Strategy

1) The exit strategy I intend to make with this business would be to monopolize it and pass it down to my children thus creating a fortune for me and my family. 2) I selected this strategy because not too many people have lobbied to congress for these incentives for solar energy and this could lead to a monopoly in the field and make my family very wealthy. 3) This exit strategy has not really made an influence in recognizing another opportunity or anything else in my company.

Reading Reflection 3

Used the instructions from Reading Reflection 2 1) The general theme of the book  The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users, Guy Kawasaki is how powerful the uses of social media can be and how to best use them to your advantage. 2) The book connected to what I am learning in this class because it describes the importance of learning how to connect with people through social media and how to promote your product in a successful manner. 3) If I had to design an assignment based off the knowledge I learned in this book, it would be for students to create their own social media account for their product. They could either use instagram or twitter or even facebook to help promote their idea. 4) What I learned most from this book was how much corporations use social media to gain traction and attention to themselves.

Celebrating Failure

1) One time this semester where I have failed was when I applied for a position in an organization and didn't get it. 2) What I learned from this event was how important it is to try harder and work to improve from my mistakes. I also learned about becoming better prepared for events such as this one. 3) I usually handle failure by bottling it up inside myself and stuffing myself with sweets. This class has changed the way I view failure and has encouraged me to get out there more and become a riskier person. Sometimes with great risk comes great reward.

What's Next?

Existing Market - whats next in terms of products and services for my venture would be to lobby the Florida state government for permission in making solar panels. - Interviews      1. This person suggested also putting solar panels in peoples homes      2. The next person suggested lobbying city governments as well as state governments      3. The last person I interviewed suggested that I work with commissioners and real estate developers to pick out land. - What makes the most sense for my venture would be to build a program that would assist making solar panel farms. This would help out so many people who want clean energy. We would work with state and local officials to help out the process of the environment. This would assist every homeowner in having clean energy. New Market - Currently we are targeting a young college educated and affluent crowd. We must also pitch to elderly people who want clean energy resources. - These ...

Reading Reflection 2

1) The general overview of this book is the focus on the third industrial revolution which the author believes will wipe out cheap labor and institute robots to replace them. 2) This book connects with the things I've learned in this class because it taught me how to view the future of the economy and what will happen to our jobs and how innovation will be the leader in changing our world. 3) If I had to design an exercise for this class it would be for students to envision what the future of the economy would look like? How would certain sectors of the economy change? What would change with how people consume items? What would change in terms of manufacturing our items in the future? 4) The biggest surprise I noticed from the book was the fact that a third revolution was occurring and how it would impact the poorest Americans who would all be out of a job. This would impact so many people around the world.

Growing Your Social Capital

1A) The first person I spoke with is a woman who has a similar idea to me and is trying to lobby to members in congress in Washington DC at the moment for incentives for renewable energy consumers. 2A) This person would be a domain expert because she is an environmental science major and knows exactly what she's talking about and she has the background to show it. She currently is a lobbyist for environmental issues.  3A) I found this person while attending the University of Florida and met her in one of my classes. 4A) The exchange nature I have with this person is that they will be employed at my company once we are able to break through congress one day. 5A) This is a huge connection in Washington DC  and can give us some important votes on the Hill. 1B) The second person I spoke with is a man who owns a company that produces solar panels. 2B) This person would be the supplier to our industry. 3B) I found this person looking up companies that produce solar pan...

Idea Napkin 2

1) My name is Franco Luis, I am a second year political science major from Miami, Florida. I am 20 years old and I hope to be a successful lawyer/politician one day. My talents include reading and writing, playing basketball, and being knowledgable in politics. My skills and experiences include being bilingual. Having been a political journalist in high school I was able to meet with important politicians and was able to cover the 2016 election. My aspirations include bringing this product to prominence by lobbying to the government and speaking to hundreds of Americans. 2) What I'm offering to customers is the opportunity to invest in green renewable energy sources for their houses which includes directly implementing solar panels to their roofs which will save them money on their energy bills some day or them just receiving the energy from a solar panel field. 3) This product will be offered to every single American property owner. However, my customers will typically be peop...

Create a Customer Avatar

My prototypical customer is someone who enjoys reading, loves spending time by the ocean, and appreciates nature. They typically tend to drive prius' or cars that require not too much gas or are electric. My customers usually watch CNN or MSNBC and enjoy shows such as the Big Bang Theory. Some of my customers have one or two children but typically have smaller families. Some might even adopt kids. Their favorite politicians are usually liberal since they support fighting climate change. They are usually very young or are older supporters of fighting global warming. What I have in common with the avatar is our care for protecting the environment against man made carbon emissions. My similarities with the avatar are not a coincidence.

What's Your Secret Sauce?

1)  Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique. 1. I believe that my human capital is truly unique because I have some form of college education, which is more than most of the world. 2. I believe that my human capital is truly unique because I am multi-cultural, meaning I see things from different perspectives. 3. I believe that my human capital is truly unique because I am a well rounded student and can balance a lot on my plate at once. 4. I believe that my human capital is truly unique because I am bilingual so I can communicate with people from all over the world without any issue. 5. Figuring Out Buyer Behavior Part 2

The first student I spoke to was a sustainability major from Orlando, in his second year of college. This student seemed to really like my idea and said it would help advance the economy into the future and it would help us cleanup our carbon footprint. He said that this radical investment into the green economy would help bolster a worldwide movement of clean energy. The student claimed that the price of the good would be most impactful over anything else. He said for a purchase this expensive, most households would have to finance their payments. What will help these consumers is when after they purchase the good, they will see their energy bills decrease substantially. The second student I spoke to was an environmental sciences major from Texas who said that she loved the idea. The student also claimed that the price of the product would be most important to the willingness of the consumer to buy the product, since renewable energy sources can be very expensive. She also said that...

Halfway Reflection

1) What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course? I have set up my calendar to notify me when I should begin working on my assignments and I try to constantly keep up with the assignments by working on them the day before they are due. 2) T alk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? One moment where I felt like giving up was when I had two exams one week and two very difficult assignments due for this class the next day. That was probably the most difficult time for me this semester and I felt like giving up. What pulled me through was knowing that my grades would go up. I have developed a tenacious attitude because I've fought through difficult adversities and have made sacrifices throughout the semester to improve my grades. One ...

Reading Reflection Number 1

I read about Elon Musk: 1) What surprised you the most? What surprised me the most about Elon Musk was his diversification of his funds. Elon Musk invests in a lot of futuristic companies that focus on innovation, but he also invests heavily in the stock market. Another fact  that surprised me about Elon Musk is the fact that he started his own web software company. What about the entrepreneur do you most admire? What I admire most about Elon Musk are his goals to improve humanity by reducing global warming through sustainable consumptions of energy and colonizing mars. His futuristic aspirations for the world are extremely impressive and something I admire. What about the entrepreneur do you least admire? What I least admire about Musk is his influence in politics. He donates vast amount of money to lobbyist groups and to certain politicians to influence their votes. I dislike these billionaires buying elections and I think he should focus on fixing the planet, not make it m...

Figuring Out Buyer Behavior

1. My segment is the people who study environmental sciences. 2. I interviewed students who were studying environmental science at the University of Florida. 3. These students have each determined the need for renewable energy products in their homes. Since most students are from Florida, they became ecstatic at the idea of implementing solar panels on their roofs to power their homes. They want to help roll the ball for people having solar panels on their houses while protecting the planet. 4. The first thing these students did was they spoke to their parents about possibly investing in solar panels on their roofs. These solar panels would be a great investment as they would increase the property value of their home and they would also profit from the energy one day. 5. What I learned from these interviews is that while people are already using these renewable energy sources in their homes, they aren't being used as frequently. If the government increases incentives on ren...

Idea Napkin

1. My name is Franco Luis and I'm from Miami, FL. I love politics and reading the news. Some of my skills include writing and being bilingual. I see business as being vital to the foundation of the economy. It is important to have at least a general understanding of what business is. 2. I am offering a project that would create an incentive to invest in renewable forms of energy as it is the future of the economy. This would help advance people's dreams for green energy and it is the energy of the future. This would include solar and wind energy to be widespread throughout the United States of America. With investment in this industry and incentives from the government in renewable energy could lead to great profits. 3. The customers who are perfect for this project are those who have interests in investing a renewable energy system. These people would be willing to have solar panels on their roofs and would be willing to join the green revolution in the United States. All ...
